Harmony Day
On Tuesday Holy Name families came together to celebrate Harmony Day. The students were dressed in a sea of orange to represent peace and diversity. The togetherness felt by the children was evident throughout the day as they sang, listened, read, coloured, ate and played with one another in such a respectful and joyous way.
Our day began with a whole school Harmony Day Assembly in the hall. The children participated in the theme of EVERYONE BELONGS as they sang songs about diversity, listened to the many different languages our students at Holy Name School speak, and shared the story "Our Diversity Makes us Stronger" by Elizabeth Cole. The assembly concluded with the EALD children presenting Mrs Stephens with a book for the school library.
During the middle session everyone worked hard on the final touches to their Harmony Day artwork preparing it for judging by the EALD children. At second lunch break every class had the opportunity to sample the many different representations of an "Aussie" afternoon tea. There were vegemite sandwiches, iced vovos, lamingtons, Tim Tams, fairy bread, Wagon Wheels and scones - just to name a few. Thank you to parents and carers for providing this!
Throughout the last session of the day, the class winners of the colouring in competition were announced. Each class winner received a book award for their superb artwork. The winners were: KM Lilah Jha, KP Hudson Bennet, 1M Isabella Marchett-Caberlon, 1N Johnny Black, 2L Vinnie Wieckowski, 2S Lenix Hodgess, 3M Grace Rinaldi, 3W Jasper Waters, 4H Bella Sleiman, 5F Sophie Andrews, 6M Nakoda Ryan, and 6R Ares Golden. A lovely day was had by all!
Thank you to everyone for joining in the celebration of Harmony Day at Holy Name,
